This program is offered in collaboration with Arts Express, an outreach program formed through the City of San Jose that offers children the chance to experience art through performance, lectures, and workshops. Steinway Society's “The History of Piano Music in America” emphasizes American composers and explains what was going on in American history while these composers were composing. Skits are presented on stage accompanied by pianists playing samples of the music under discussion. Steinway Society and Arts Express have successfully presented this program for four years.
