Steinway Society To Participate In St. Joseph’s Cathedral’s
"Season of Hope Cathedral Performance Series"
San Jose, California -- Steinway Society The Bay Area announces their participation once again in St. Joseph’s Cathedral’s ?2004 Season of Hope Performance Series?. Steinway Society will present jazz pianist Martan Mann & Jazz Harmonica Player, Tim Harmony in the series Wednesday, December 22nd concert at 7:00pm.
Continuing its proud history of nearly 200 years of service in the center of San Jose, the Basilica of St. Joseph presents its 8th annual Season of Hope. Each evening from December 12th through the 23rd, inside the magnificent splendor of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, artists from Santa Clara County/Bay area will inspire hundreds of audience members attending different downtown San Jose Attractions.
Martan is a favorite of both the jazz and classical communities. In addition to performing as a jazz pianist, Martan Mann is a noted author of three internationally published books on music improvisation. He performs on CDs, DVDs and videos. He often lectures on the subject ?Jazz Improvisation for the Classical Pianist?. His playing melds jazz improvisation with a classical approach. Martan is the Musical Director of Unity of Silicon Valley and is a board member of the Steinway Society of the Bay Area.
Tim Harmony (aka Tim ?Harmony? Welvaars) is originally from The Netherlands and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. His harmonica style closely resembles legendary Toots Thielemanns. He studied with Toots in Brussels, Belgium. Tim is the winner of many music awards and performs on nearly 20 CDs.
The performance will feature Martan and Tim interactively improvising on jazz standards and some favorite Holiday tunes.
