Concert Pianist Robert Schwartz
To Perform in San Jose

Steinway Society The Bay Area announces the booking engagement of Concert Pianist Robert Schwartz on Sunday November 16th 2003 at 7:00PM. Mr. Schwartz will be performing at the Le Petit Trianon Theatre located in downtown San Jose. Tickets are priced at $25.00 General and $20.00 for Seniors 65 and over and $15 for full time students.

The Steinway Society is a non-profit volunteer based organization whose mission is "To promote excellence in piano performance and music education in the Bay Area." Entering its tenth season, this is the second concert performance of the 2003/2004 season subscription series and promises to be one of its most exciting.

Robert Schwartz has been hailed by Hugh Wolff of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra as "one of the finest pianists of his generation." Winner of numerous awards, including the 1975 Ravel Prize at the Marguerite Long International Competition, held in Paris, Mr. Schwartz has performed extensively in the U.S. and abroad in recent seasons. Originally from Sacramento, California, he made his formal concert debut in New York City in 1983 at the Merkin Concert Hall. After spending fifteen years in New York, he now makes his home in San Francisco.

Klavier Records recently released his recording of Romero’s Spirals for the piano and orchestra, with the San Francisco Camerata. Mr. Schwartz holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University, a Masters Degree from Julliard, and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Manhattan School of Music.

Mr. Schwartz will be performing an all French Program including works by Claude Debussy, Cesar Franck and Francis Poulenc.
