Van Cliburn International Piano Competition
Gold Medallist Jon Nakamatsu To Perform in San Jose

Steinway Society The Bay Area announces the booking engagement of Concert Pianist Jon Nakamatsu on Saturday January 3rd 2004 at 8:00PM and Sunday January 4th 2004 at 4:00PM. Mr. Nakamatsu will be performing at the Le Petit Trianon Theatre located in downtown San Jose. Tickets are priced at $35.00 General and $30.00 for Seniors 65 and over and $25 for full time students.

The Steinway Society is a non-profit volunteer based organization whose mission is "To promote excellence in piano performance and music education in the Bay Area". Entering its tenth season, the two- concert performance by Jon Nakamatsu is the Third concert of the Steinway Society’s eight concert 2003-2004 Season.

A native of California, he claimed a distinguished place on the international music scene in June 1997 when named the Gold Medalist of the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He is the only American to have achieved this distinction since 1981. A former high school German teacher, he became a popular hero overnight in the highly traditional medium of classical music.

Mr. Nakamatsu will be performing works by Wolfl, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Brahms.
