Steinway Society Announces 2003-2004
Concert Season to be held at the
Le Petit Trianon Theatre in San Jose
Steinway Society The Bay Area announces the 2003-2004 concert season to be held at the Le Petit Trianon Theatre located in downtown San Jose. Six pianists will perform a total of eight concerts with single ticket prices ranging from $15 for students to $35 for general. Special six -concert packages offer from $79 for students to $139 for general. Entering its tenth season, the Steinway Society is pleased to announce that for the 2003-2004 season it will be offering reserved seating.
The Steinway Society is a non-profit volunteer based organization whose mission is: "To promote excellence in piano performance and music education in the Bay Area". The Steinway Society has grown to become one of the bay areas for most treasured organizations. With a group of highly motivated volunteers it continues to strive to offer the bay area the highest quality performing artists available.
Founded in 1993, the 2003-2004 promises to be one of the best seasons ever for the society. The opening concert(s) on September 13th and 14th features the 2001 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Olga Kern. She will be performing works by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Taneyev, Balikirev, and Liszt. Ms. Kern returns to the San Jose area by demand after her stunning performance in the Steinway Society’s 2002 season. Her career has taken off since and she continues to receive critical acclaim the world over.
The remainder of the season offers the following pianists:
Mr. Robert Schwartz on November 16th
Jon Nakamatsu, January 3rd and 4th 2004, acclaimed local artist and 1997 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist
Young Artists Concert, February 8th 2004, showcasing talented Bay Area competition winners.
Ursula Oppens, March 21st , 2004, who is renowned for her performances of contemporary music and was the silver medalist of the 1962 Tchaikovsky competition.
Yin, Cheng Zong, April 18th 2004.
Le Petit Trianon Theatre, www.trianontheatre.com, is located in downtown San Jose at 72 North 5th Street. Tickets are priced at $25-$35 General and $20-$30 for Seniors 65 and over and $15-$25 for full time students if purchased separately. A special package pass for six concerts is offered for $139 General and $109 for Seniors 65 and over and $79 for full time students.
