Steinway Society To Participate In St. Joseph’s Cathedral’s
“Season of Hope Cathedral Performance Series”
Steinway Society The Bay Area announces their participation in St. Joseph’s Cathedral’s “2002 Season of Hope Performance Series”. Steinway Society will present Patric Nikolas in the series-concluding concert scheduled for Monday, December 23rd.
Continuing its proud history of nearly 200 years of service in the center of San Jose, the Basilica of St. Joseph presents its 7th annual Season of Hope. Each evening from December 12th through the 23rd, inside the magnificent splendor of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, artists from Santa Clara County/Bay area will inspire hundreds of audience members attending different downtown San Jose Attractions.
Nikolas is a professional piano composer, teacher, music director, and published author. He has a degree in keyboard performance, and his first CD, Neither Saint nor Sage, features the MTAC 2001 1st prize award winning composition, Trance and Substance. He currently lives in Willow Glen, where he runs 1122 Music, the composition and teaching practice he founded. He recently accepted the post of Music Director of the San Jose Center for Spiritual Living, a New Thought church. He looks forward to building a reputation as a dynamic, passionate composer and performance artist locally and abroad.
Nikolas has selected six pieces to perform:
Trance and Substance, an original composition, 1st prize MTAC winner
Christmas Time is Here, Guarldi
Tree of Life, original composition, ties into Christmas imagery
O Tannenbaum, Guarldi
Theotokos, original composition, means the “God Bearer”: or Mary
A Child is Born, jazz standard

Steinway Society The Bay Area is a non-profit volunteer based organization whose mission is “To promote excellence in piano performance and music education in the Bay Area”. Entering its ninth season, Steinway Society will present a six concert series during the 2002-2003 Season. Their next scheduled performance is Sunday, January 19, 2003 at 7:00pm and will feature Rebecca Penneys.
