To Perform in San Jose
Steinway Society The Bay Area announces the booking engagement of recitalist, chamber musician, orchestral soloist and educator Rebecca Penneys for a performance on Sunday, January 19, 2003 at 7:00pm at Le Petit Trianon Theatre in downtown San Jose, California. Tickets are priced at $25.00 and $15.00 for Students and Seniors 65 and over.
The Steinway Society is a non-profit volunteer based organization whose mission is “To promote excellence in piano performance and music education in the Bay Area”. Entering its ninth season, the Rebecca Penneys performance is the third concert of the Steinway Society’s six concert 2002-2003 Season.
Rebecca Penneys leads a distinguished career as a recitalist, chamber musician, orchestral soloist, educator and recording artist. The Milwaukee Sentinel quotes “When she touches her wand-like fingers to the keyboard, thunder rolls, lighting breaks through the heavens, and Elysian songs are heard.” For four decades her intelligent and insightful performances have held audiences spellbound. She combines a busy concert schedule with guidance for an international class of students at Eastman and Chautauqua and gives master classes and seminars at other major teaching institutions worldwide. She has been Professor of Piano at Eastman since 1980 and resident artist and teacher for twenty-four consecutive seasons. She has created a program there, which is unique in the world of piano instruction. In 2001, she was appointed Visiting Artist at St. Petersburg College, Florida.
Rebecca will be conducting Master Classes at Sherman Clay’s PianoMax in San Francisco on January 17th and in Santa Clara on January 18th:
